About Journal

The biannual journal Architectural and Environmental Research from Zanjan University was granted its publication license with the registration number 80747 in February 2018 by the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance. This journal focuses on the core elements that shape architectural spaces, exploring how places and built environments come into being. It delves into topics related to place and environment studies, and given the deep connections between place and cultural, social, and environmental contexts, it also highlights the influence of these factors—such as cultural and behavioral patterns—on the creation of architectural spaces. To further develop and deepen these perspectives, the journal invites experts and researchers to contribute their scientific and academic insights, enriching its content and making it a valuable resource.

Architecture, as a multifaceted discipline, touches on a wide range of domains, contexts, and ideas. It reveals itself in the mental, physical, and active dimensions of human experience, while also navigating cultural, historical, geographical, and local contexts. It draws from complex concepts like art, technology, meaning, and beauty during the processes of creation and discovery. Without a doubt, architecture is a form of knowledge that spans vast areas and explores profound depths to mature and yield meaningful outcomes. As a result, exploring, reflecting, and growing in the field of architecture requires the use of countless tools, perspectives, and bodies of knowledge. Writings, books, journals, and other resources have all played a role in this journey, each contributing a piece of the puzzle and supporting thinkers in this expansive field.

The Architectural and Environmental Research journal aims to engage with the fundamental concepts and themes of architecture, investigating how architectural spaces and human environments are formed and analyzing their spatial and environmental qualities. To achieve this, it employs scientific and empirical methods, as well as philosophical and anthropological approaches. Additionally, it pays special attention to the climatic and geographical conditions of northwestern Iran, looking toward the future of this region to establish a foundation for scientific, philosophical, theoretical, and practical research. Through this work, the journal seeks to contribute to a deeper understanding of architecture and its role in shaping our world.
