The management, protection and cultural dissemination of abandoned residential, religious or governmental areas of the past centuries that are now available in the form of ruins far from today's cities or archaeological excavations buried underground which contains important official documentation of ancestors’ life is especially important and for this reason, the plan of ancient sites regeneration with the aim of providing information to the general public, documentation and archaeological explorations is taking place all around the world. The mentioned areas can become a site museum with proper organization in order to achieve the goal of tourism development. In this regard, the approach of revitalization and regeneration in such zones, improves the site in social, economic, cultural, identity, physical, functional, environmental, tourism development and management aspects and brings it to a new life. In the meantime, considering need to the ancient remains fully protect, the way of intervention and physical-spatial design of site museums will be a sensitive issue that requires comprehensive investigation. Therefore, based on case-based reasoning (CBR), the present article typifies the physical-spatial structure of ten case examples from the world's famous site museums, presents the results in the form of drawing patterns, due to five main indicators that are effective in the formation of such a building, including exterior roof structure, interior roof structure, elevations, building shape and circulation path and at last expresses the general site museums design solutions based on three factors: scale and extent of the site, climate and the degree of urban structure development of the region with the criteria of construction time.
