The researches of the last decade about the nature of emotion and its impact on human life have clarified the need to pay attention to emotion and its relationship with space. Reviewing the literature of the field of architecture in relation to emotion, introduces two main approaches of environmental psychology and phenomenology, and the comparison of these approaches in the considered field can reveal the existing gaps. After comparing these two approaches in the field of studying the relationship between space and emotion, the present research suggests paying attention to the latest theory about how emotions are made. This theory can provide criteria for comparing the two considered approaches and also paying attention to this theory from the point of view of architecture and design can provide a new way to create emotional spaces. Therefore, this article is based on the "theory of constructed emotions" and aims to provide a general framework for design researchers and environmental designers in the form of the relationship between space and emotion. This article first examines the effect of space on emotion from the perspective of phenomenology and environmental psychology, and after defining the nature and manner of emotion formation, it points out the existing gaps in this field by comparing these two approaches. By proposing the theory of constructed emotions, it provides a framework for research in the field of space and emotion. The method of the current research is library study and logical reasoning, and its results show that in order to meditate on the relationship between space and human emotion, the paradigm of how emotion is made must be changed. Rejecting the stimulus-response paradigm and paying attention to the fact that people create emotions by the theory of "constructed emotions" points to the importance of "concepts" and will directly affect the research design and research method in this field. Examining emotions as social realities in front of physical realities in the new paradigm leads the attention of architects to the concepts and meanings of architecture; To design richer places, full of passion for life and respecting the emotions of users.
