Abstract

Introduction: The environment and the individual are not separated and mutually beneficial. The environmental characteristics of a space providing mental health services can affect the feelings, behaviors and thoughts of clients and specialists of these services. The characteristics of the environment can affect the perception of the individual and consequently affect his reaction and behavior . Purpose: To determine the relationship between the importance of the aspects of the physical environment of the treatment room for clients and the clients' attitudes towards the therapist the client's positive perception of the therapist, the client's perception of the therapist's skill and the client's perception of the therapist's reliability. Method: The research was causal-comparative and correlational. The statistical population was the clients of psychological services in Tehran, which included 66 people and were selected by available sampling method. The data collection tool was physical characteristics scale and consultant rating short form. Data were analyzed by Pearson correlation method and independent one-sample t-test. Findings: The importance of the aspects of the physical environment of the treatment room for the client has a significant positive relationship with the client's positive perception of the therapist, the client's understanding of the therapist's skill, and the client's perception of the therapist's reliability. Conclusion: Physical factors of the therapy room can influence the attitude of the authorities to the therapist or counselor. It can be concluded that the client's perception of the physical environment has an effect on his perception of the therapist's popularity, and the client gets a better understanding of the therapist's skill and trustworthiness according to the layout of the environment. Also, the temperature of the environment affects the feeling of security and the ability to trust the therapist. Considering the layout and cleanliness of the environment , light and temperature and the fitness of the environment can be considered by employers and therapists .
